Preserving Dignity Giving Day 2021
PRESS RELEASE: Soulrapha Partners With Orange County Community Foundation For "Preserving Dignity" Giving Day
24-Hour Fundraiser Seeks to Raise $100K For Nonprofits Providing Programs and Services for Orange County’s Older Adults
Tustin, Calif. (July 11, 2021) — SoulRapha and six aligned nonprofits will partner with the Orange County Community Foundation (OCCF) on July 14 for Preserving Dignity – a collaborative Giving Day to support older adults in need throughout Orange County. The 24-hour online effort aims to raise $100,000 for seven nonprofits offering a range of resources, including meals, housing, domestic violence services, hospice care, engagement opportunities, caregiver support, and more.
The Preserving Dignity Giving Day is an opportunity for donors to collectively support OC’s older adults – a population that has been disproportionately impacted by the challenges of the global pandemic and continues to grow. By 2040, it is projected that almost one in four OC residents will be 65 or older.
There are 8,300 skilled nursing residents and 14,350 assisted living residents today in Orange County. Prior to the pandemic, 60% never received an outside visitor and all of them currently continue to face isolation and social distancing. SoulRapha helps solve this problem of isolation.
In addition to SoulRapha, the participating organizations include Alzheimer’s Orange County, Council on Aging – Southern California, Human Options, Inc., Meals on Wheeler Orange County, Southern California Hospice Foundation, St. Francis Home of the Franciscan Missionary Sister of the I C Inc.
“Now more than ever, we are committed to supporting Orange County’s vulnerable communities, especially our older adults,” said Shelley Hoss, president and CEO, OCCF. “The critical funds raised during the Preserving Dignity Giving Day help ensure OC’s older residents have the vital resources they need.”
SoulRapha is dedicated to providing the 4000 residents they currently serve with holistic wellness through technology and custom media solutions. Their goal is to see a device in every hand of every resident that needs one in order to keep them connected to loved ones and end isolation for seniors.
“We are excited to participate in Preserving Dignity this year,” said Heather Riley, Executive Director and CSO of SoulRapha. “Seniors are often a forgotten part of our communities. We are seeking to end isolation for seniors and improve the senior living experience for older adults in Orange County.”
